Directions
From the south there are two ways you can reach our lodge. The most direct way is via the vehicle ferry which travels between Opua and Okiato on a regular basis. (Last ferry leaves Opua at 10:00 pm or 2200 hours) The other option is to come up the coast road which takes about an hour longer but is well worth it if the time can be spared. From the north the vehicle ferry is the best option.
Coastal Road (Coming from the South)
When you get north of Whangarei you might like to leave State Highway 1 and take a scenic route. If so about 15 km north of Whangarei there is a petrol station on the left hand side. 200 m past the petrol station there is the Russell Road on the right. Take this road. About 25 km along the Russell road there is a sign that says Old Russell Road. If you have a GPS in the car it will probably tell you to take this road. Some maps also say to take this road. DO NOT TAKE THE OLD RUSSELL ROAD. Just stay on the sealed road. The sealed road will change its name a few times. ie. Ngaitonga Road Rawhiti Road etc. Stay on the seal and eventually it will become the Russell Road again. Shortly before you get to Russell there is a Giveway Sign. Turn left at the Giveway sign into Aucks Road. Our road Te Wahapu is the first on the right. You then take the 1st on the right Waiaruhe Way No 92 and we are property D After you have mastered the idiosycrasies of our road maps by arriving here safely you will be fine for the rest of your stay in New Zealand.
